Read on to learn what Halloween candy you can still eat with your braces and how you can protect them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Best Candy to Eat with Braces<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though it may not seem like it, there are actually a lot of different types of candies out there that are completely safe for you to eat. The best way to assess your Halloween haul is to split it up into two piles, one with everything you can eat, and the other with candies to trade with your friends! Here are some to keep in your \u201cGood to eat\u201d pile:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Reese\u2019s Pieces<\/li><li>3 Musketeers<\/li><li>Reese\u2019s Peanut Butter Cups<\/li><li>Soft Cookies Without Nuts<\/li><li>Crumbly Snacks, like Ritz Bits<\/li><li>Chocolate Bars Without Nuts<\/li><li>Any Type of M&amp;M Without Nuts or Hard Centers<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re eating a candy that\u2019s a little chewier than typical, it\u2019s important that you take your time chewing it to avoid accidentally damaging a bracket or your archwire. Also, in order to avoid developing a cavity during your treatment, be sure to thoroughly brush and floss after you eat any of your Halloween candy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Halloween Treats You\u2019ll Want to Avoid<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although there are more sweets you\u2019ll need to avoid eating, being mindful of your braces can help you dodge some serious problems throughout your treatment. Here are the candies you\u2019ll want to put in your \u201cTrade\u201d pile:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Taffy<\/li><li>Tootsie Rolls, Milk Duds, and Other Chewy Candies<\/li><li>Caramels<\/li><li>Any Chocolate with Nuts, Like Snickers<\/li><li>Popcorn Balls &amp; Popcorn<\/li><li>Chewing Gum<\/li><li>Nerds, Jolly Ranchers, and Hard Candies<\/li><li>Gummies like Swedish Fish and Dots<\/li><li>Chips<\/li><li>Suckers<\/li><li>Candy Corn<\/li><li>Jelly Beans<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These chewy, crunchy, and long-lasting candies can lead to cavities or a popped bracket, making it likely that you\u2019ll need to take time out of your week for a visit to your orthodontist. They can also set back your treatment time, meaning you\u2019ll need to wear your braces for even longer. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You Should Do if You Break or Damage Your Braces<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you accidentally eat something that dislodges a bracket or archwire, it\u2019s crucial to tell your parent so they can call your orthodontist as soon as possible.
